Buy It Trash It - Mystery Model

This is a base project that creates agents who wiggle around the world, and buy a consumer item (like a cell phone) when they encounter the store.

The agents will keep the item for a period of time and leave it in a trash dump after that time. The amount of trash is shown in a data box.

Extensions could include: slider for length of ownership, a graph, a trait of individual agents to keep an item longer before throwing it away, or a recycling program where the item is returned to a store. Further extensions could include calculations of energy used in recycling/reusing versus purchase/discarding,
