Greenhouse Gases with cars 5.17.14

This model simulates the effect of greenhouse gases caused by car emissions on global warming.

In this model, the sun emits solar radiation (yellow circles) which travel down to the Earth's surface. Once they collide with the Earth's surface, some of the radiation is reflected while another portion is absorbed and then emitted as infra-red radiation (referred to as "heat" here, represented by red circles).

The Earth's temperature rises with the "heat" and stabilizes around a certain temperature.

The cars will move between 100 and 300 ticks and will emit CO2 as they move. You can determine the number of cars with the slider, before hitting setup.

The data boxes and graphs will show the CO2, Heat, and also the Clock.

The graphs can be hidden by clicking "Hide graphs" and shown again with "Show graphs".
